ABOUT "PSYCHEDUCATION"... Or... [Education of the Psyche]] An idea created by James W. Patterson, PhD, in the 1980's.

The reason I am doing this particular blog is to differentiate between my "Psycheducation," which was introduced in the 1980's, and  what is advertised today as "Psychoeducation".   Other than not having an "O" tacked onto the term Psychoeducation,  my term Psycheducation was a combining of the term "Psyche" by the Ancient Greeks (... which, for them, referred to the "Self, Soul, and MIND" "Within" Man). The ancient Greeks used the term "Psyche" to include  three  "Esoteric" aspects of the Whole Human Being.  Let us begin with two definitions from Webster's New Dictionary:

1.  Esoteric:  adj  1..Intended for or understood by only a small group. 2. Confidential; private.

2. psyche:  n. 1. The Soul or spirit as distinguished from the body. 2. The mind functioning as the center of thought, feeling, and behavior.  [Gk psukhe, breath, life, soul.]

My point? My primary point is that the Ancient Greeks differentiated between the physical person and the Esoteric [invisible] dimensions that exist and operate "Within" the whole human being. What is not usually emphasized in dictionaries is the fact that the Esoteric dimensions of Man consist of energies that are INVISIBLE to the brain and one's physical senses.  My sketch of this looks like this:

Note that #1 represents the physical realms of existence, and it includes the physical  brain. #2, #3, and #4 are all invisible to the brain and one's physical senses... except that one can experience one's emotions, which are caused by one's MIND realm [#2 and #3].   One's brain is also subject to receiving what I refer to as "Delusional Thinking" or "D-Think"...which are thoughts fed to one's brain by one's MIND which is the "Source of... or the psychological "causal" behind...  many  of one's thoughts, desires, habit patterns, and one's "feelings".

In other words, the MIND uses Delusional Thinking [or thoughts fed to one's brain] to cause one's brain to think about, react to, and engage in most of what one does and thinks.  And we tend to blame others for what we "THINK" causes us to react to life.  What is actually responsible is D-Think being fed to our brains by our MINDs.  And... what is behind all of this is what Mystics refer to as One's Fate Karma.  And each of us is born with a FATE KARMA that is based on various bits of Karma we created in in one or more of our many past lifetimes... and few people in the West believe in the Law of Karma, or in "Reincarnation," or the fact that one's Soul does not die when one's body dies, but is re-incarnated into another body in which to continue dealing with one's store of Karma.

In other words, my use of the term Psycheducation combined the Esoteric dimensions of Man and those parts of Man that the brain "thinks" it knows by simply knowing the names of these Esoteric elements of Man that are taught in education... which  (in the West in particular) is pretty much confined to what the brain can "THINK ABOUT".  The names of Esoteric elements [MIND, SELF, SOUL] do not tell us what these elements are!  Or how they work, or what to do about them?

In other words... there is a great deal more to the Reality of Psychology than what psychology today teaches or deals with!

In the early 1930's, many in the field of "Psychology" were intellectually [and quite likely without realizing it]... attempting  to confine the study of "psychology" to the brain, behavior, and thinking.

They created the idea:  Behavioral [physical phenomena] with the term psychology [a study of the Self, Soul, and MIND... all invisible to the physical brain] ... which created an oxy-moron:

ox-y-moron n,pl -mora . A rhetorical figure in which an epigrammatic effect is created by a paradoxical conjunction of terms

In other words, combining Psychology [a study of the Self, Soul, and MIND ] with the word Behavioral, which is entirely focused on the physical operations of Man... and thinking by use of one's brain... being fed subtle thoughts [or D-Think] by one's MIND.

That is,  I refer to modern psychology  as "BS&doR", which stands for "Behavioral Science and denial of Reality". Man is much more than what we can "think" about!  What is needed for such inquiry is  an advanced level of "Intuition"... a part of one's Consciousness.  Or, a person who is "Enlightened".

I will continue this discussion in an up-coming blog.  I hope you find this interesting?

Peace, 1 Brother James

WHAT DOES INVISIBLE MEAN?

INVISIBLE [as regards to what exists hidden "within" Man... which we refer to as the MIND and Spiritual Realms existing Within Man...
