Over the last century, or since B.F. Skinner was successful in his desire to eliminate the MIND and Consciousness from the field of psychology.... a quote of his:
A great deal has changed in the field of mental health in America. The most damaging change was to eliminate the requirement that people seeking to practice psychotherapy needed to undergo an extensive course of personal therapy as part of their preparation.
Wisely, the field of psychiatry did not remove this crucial requirement. But the cost of treatment via psychiatry today is far beyond the means of most people... and the length of time involved in "treatment" just makes the situation worse.
Fritz Perls was right on tract with what he was discovering from "within" himself regarding the MIND of Man, but he recognized that he was somehow "prevented" from a more extensive [cognitive] comprehension of what "Gestalt Psychotherapy" seemed to promise.
The MIND of Man is not physical. And it is certainly not the brain [which is physical and thus physically limited to what it can physically perceive of phenomena that is not physical]. In my little sketch, circle #1 is the extent to which the brain can discover what the MIND holds hidden "within" itself. That means #2, #3, and #4 are all invisible to the brain!
Modern psychology confines itself to circle #1, and this means avoids the MIND entirely. Why is this?
The reason is that non-conscious fears one's MIND holds hidden "Within" itself... are entirely invisible to the brain. There are multiple repressed fears held "within" one's MIND... none of which are directly available to one's brain or thinking. Indeed... the MIND uses the brain and one's behavior to VENT the negative energy of these repressed traumata [or bits of repressed memory] in ways that do not reveal the source or nature of what the MIND holds hidden "within" itself!
To not involve the MIND in therapy is to insure failure of therapy.
The "key" to obtaining access to one's own MIND realm is the faculty of one's faculty of "Intuition"... which is an aspect of one's Consciousness... which I believe is the Energy of one's Soul... which I have labeled Neutral Spiritual Energy, or the symbol "NSgy". And how much access one has to one's faculty of Intuition depends upon how "Enlightened' one's Soul is? ..... And this is yet another area of investigation modern mental health ignores entirely.
We will continue this investigation in the next blog.
