MENTAL! AND WHAT DOES MENTAL REFER TO? IT REFERS TO THE MIND [and the MIND is entirely Invisible to the brain]!. INVISIBLE!
MENTAL DOES NOT REFER TO THE BRAIN...although Webster's does its best to try and include "mental" in the term INTELLECTUAL, not separating the MIND from the physical brain. The brain is physical and confined to that which is physical... or for some people, being able to spell M-I-N-D, and use it in a sentence is sufficient evidence that they "know" what the MIND is! This intellectual slight-of-hand where people "think" they KNOW certain things because they can spell them... is common today. And it has almost eliminated the term mental from the phrase "Mental Health".
IN FACT, the more intellectual one is, the more dependent one is on one's physical brain... which is unable to perceive Consciousness, Spirituality, emotion, or three-quarters of the whole of Man. The result of this delusional situation where "thinking" has replaced Intuitive insight and advanced sensitivity is the reason Veterans are committing suicide in alarming numbers. And the field of psychology is becoming useless as intellectualism pushes Enlightened individuals away.
The Tragedy is... the brain is unaware of it's limitations. And intellectualism has taken over the field of psychology. And intellectuals are now in charge of "mental health" in America. And the MENTAL part of psychology has virtually been eliminated. The person who is naturally gifted with a high level of Intuition [an advanced level of Consciousness] is today at a disadvantage in attempting to find acceptance in mental Health today!
So, as long as adherents to "Intellectualism" remain in charge of mental health in America, people who need competent and advanced psychological help will just have to suffer, or present themselves to Psychiatrists who were able to grasp what Perls was about!
Sad, but unfortunately, mental health today is not in good health!
